20230618T0800 20230618T0950 America/Denver Workshop D: Mine Fire Modelling

The Fire Modelling workshop will help establish the foundations of modelling fires in underground mines, including the theory of fire combustion, heat release rates and gas release types and behavior. The workshop will also touch on battery electric fires and special considerations in modelling batteries alone and within mobile machinery. The workshop aims to develop an understanding of ventilation changes and considerations for fire, both in the planning and design phase and for emergencies, as well as considerations for refuge and emergency evacuation. The workshop will use Ventsim as an example modelling tool, although much of the theory and practice will be applicable to other mine fire modelling software.
