Bio
Isaac Peña was born and raised in Hobbs, New Mexico. He attended New Mexico State University where in 2018 he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. This was followed by a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2020, also from New Mexico State University. Isaac began his career in the summer of 2017 as an intern for the United States Department of Energy at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant before being hired by the Management and Operating Contractor of the WIPP Site as an Associate Engineer in the Underground Ventilation Department in 2018 and was then promoted to Senior Engineer of the Underground Ventilation Team in 2019. Isaac is now the Ventilation Engineering Manager for Salado Isolation Mining Contractors at the WIPP site. The Ventilation Engineering Team at the WIPP sites faces a unique challenge of providing fresh air throughout the mine to support diesel operations, maintain a safe working environment, and meet nuclear air cleaning requirements. In his free time Isaac enjoys playing guitar and spending time on the golf course.
